The "Mary" character is pretty bland until the end so it's easy for "Sylvia" (Rosalind Russell), "Miriam" (Paulette? Goddard) and "Crystal" (Joan Crawford) to steal the thunder. It's obvious from her name and looks that "Miriam Aarons" is Jewish and came from a less fancy background, yet steals a rich WASP husband - subtle comment on class differences. 1000 times better than the lousy remake.
This is included on the season 4 dvd of "The Bob Newhart Show"

There is footage of Annie really talking about "All About Eve" and she was interviewed for numerous books about it. She was very intelligent, very perceptive and at time very witty. But she was? never mean spirited. She made one big mistake, insisting on running in the Best Actress catagory for "Eve." In the Supporting category she would have won and Bette Davis would have gotten Best Actress. Davis knew that but lived with it.
