By: cjetelomar2010. on 09 May 12, 15:21:33 (part 2) believe me, that happened with my squier stratocaster guitar... because of the pull of the springs and the whammy action, the strings NEVER stayed in tune... and i noticed so much thread wear on the body by the 6? screws... it made a huge hole on each 6 screw placements... and so, i put some stopper on those 6 screws and i even reinforced the 2 screws for tremolo hinge... and as a result, much better tuning stability... try it yourself... i learned that thru experience... (part 1) i think i ... By: cjetelomar2010. on 09 May 12, 15:17:20 (part 1) i think i spotted the real problem (what you really mean): the 6 screws tend to stray? from their fixed positions... so even if you use the whammy bar, doing a FULL dive, the screws will stray forward or backward because of the push and pull of the dive whammy AND the spring action... and most of all, it can cause wear in the 6 screws... the best way to fix the 6 screw strat is to use a STOPPER for the 6 screws so that the screws will always stay FIXED at their position... @Kramnosnits at 1: ... This involves setting saddle height and radius and truss rod to have the neck bow/flex properly. A new guitar (especially the cheaper varieties) can always benefit from a full pro setup because they can also address fret and nut? issues which can drive you crazy with buzzing.
