They left all the high frequencies in rather than pre-EQing the library. That's because you can always cut the offending frequencies OUT if you don't want them, but if you have Hollywood Strings or Kirk Hunter where those frequencies were EQed out, you can't bring them back IN if you decide you want a harsh? sound. I bought LASS Lite and was seriously unimpressed. The individual? instruments sounded OK but the ensemble patches sounded like they have a cold! I even found the strings built-in to Logic Pro to be preferable. Maybe it's just a limitation of the Lite version, but I think there are a better sample libraries out there.
