With these cartridges you pull the bullet off of a .22 Short round and dump out the powder. The .22 gets loaded into the .44 Rimfire cartridge to act as the primer. Then you fill the .44 case with black powder and a .450" round ball or bullet. When you load the chambers, orient the round so the .22 shell will be hit by the Open Top firing pin.
