All I hear when I play around with it is that it seems that the note is sung by a deeper voice. It works pretty nicely on vowels like "OO" and? "OH", but poorly on "EE". What the demo doesn't explain is truly how this might be applied - I'm thinking you could add richness or 'bite' to a vocal by placing the formant just below or above the audio note respectively, as a 'more natural' alternative/accompaniment to what you might do using Eq... :0 ). Vowels in speech / singing are generally described by 2 formants, the resonance frequencies of the mouthbox and throat, roughly speaking.
