With it's low price, it was an amazing canvas for guitar modders, and turned into a really nice guitar with a good setup, some hardware changes, and a change of p-ups. The evidence of it's success is right here, in the form of the Fender '51. The man? said 'loosely based' (1:19), but its really just an upscale replica.
