This is a video I made in honor of the battle at the Alamo. I took some clips from the movie and tried to make it where you could get a look at how we should truely honor the Alamo. I completely recommend this movie to anyone, though it will make you cry, for I was crying like a baby! God bless, and, remember the Alamo. Song: Pride and Prejudice Soudtrack

Trying to talk sense into these idiot youtube warriors is like trying to reason with a brick wall. I see these morons everywhere. Look up any patriotic song or any song relating to a historical event and the comment section is bound to be flooded by self-righteous pricks trying to shove their crap down? everybody else's throat. People like that ruin the song for everybody.

Santa Anna was definitely a despot so all you limpwrists quit acting like the Mexicans have the moral high ground. Check out this quote attributed to Santa Anna: " A hundred years to come my people will not be fit for liberty. They do not know what it is,? unenlightened as they are, and under the influence of a Catholic clergy, a despotism is the proper government for them, but there is no reason why it should not be a wise and virtuous one." -Santa Anna

Galba Fuqua? was a Hispanic resident of Nagadoches who joined the defenders of the Alamo. Survivor Mrs Milam witnessed him fighting to the death even after part of his jaw was shot off. He was 16.

That's a bullshit argument. The abolitionist movement had been around since the late 1700s and was a MAJOR issue throughout the 1800s until its climax in 1865. Travis was a slave owner and Bowie was a slave trader and smuggler. Now if you want a real fight for freedom story, I'd recommend John Brown's Raid on Harper Ferry, he failed in his attempt to forcibly remove slavery from America, but at least he wasn't a hypocrite. Seriously read a history book? and stop trying to distort the truth.

(ignoring all the stupid, pointless political comments) Marty Robbins is a legend. Nobody can match that epic? singing voice, and I love how all his songs tell a story. Much better than most of today's music.

You cannot judge people of that time by our norms of today. Besides, the Alamo defenders were not rich slave owners. Mexico may have outlawed slavery, but not because they believed it to be morally wrong. Just read Mexican history and see how Mexico developed after the Alamo siege. The Alamo defenders were, first of all, fighting for their freedom and the morality or immorality of slavery was? not a major issue in those days.

They were brave men...but I cannot in good faith support what they did. They fought for their right to own other human beings. They? fought for slavery. The reason they fought against Mexico, was because they just recently outlawed slavery, so they fought to keep it. They fought and died a warrior's death...but for the wrong cause in my opinion.
By: Behling101. on 14 May 12, 23:55:42
it was also about their right to own other human beings. The? whole reason they fought at the Alamo, was because the mean old Mexicans decided to outlaw the owning of other human beings, and as you know, Texans back then were for slavery.

This is what? i can agree. I am not deny their bravery.

Nothing to say? This argument will go no where if? we both work on generalized and unfounded stereotypes and will thus degrade into a pointless shouting match. Why? Because you can't win a debate with opinion and misconceptions alone.
By: futurehajihunter. on 10 May 12, 05:07:04
they may not have been perfect and their ideals not as acceptable...but they had the balls to stand and fight for what they belive in. I give respect to any sorry bastard that has those guts to stand up for what they belive is right. weather i like it or not is a diffent story? but their is a common honor among people who fight for their ideals. i try to belive that. sometimes im wrong but hey. gotta try

great story?
By: cha5. on 09 May 12, 07:12:00
Travis had made an offer of surrender to Santa Anna, if he and his men were spared.? Santa Anna's response was that he wanted their heads not their apologies, It's also thought that Santa Anna didn't want a bloodless victory which is why he didn't wait for bigger canons which would have blasted massive holes in the alamo walls and likely wouldn't have wasted the lives of so many of his troops in a final attack as he did.
By: cha5. on 09 May 12, 07:01:48
Santa Anna threw out the constitution of 1824 and had no qualms about massacring his own people as he did at Zacatecas when they challenged his authority, the Tejanos of Bexar had no love for this self styled "Napoleon of? the West" which is one reason there were a fair number of Tejano defenders of the Alamo ala Juan Seguin and others not to mention signers of the Texas declaration of independence like Francisco Ruiz & Melchor Sanchez- Navarro.

Study your history, mexico had slaves, introduced? scalping and treated the people living in Texas like crap.
