I wish i was? that fast

The break off pressure on the Z20LET is set at 9psi and the break off on the VXR is set at 10psi if I recall so really is? minimal. The boost controller bleeds off pressure to the actuator to ge the higher boost anyway and the boost is all electrically controlled.

Oil restrictor bolt wasn't? a Vauxhall fitment or recall its an aftermarket modification by a guy called percy from VXRo.

Oh and I'd prefer my air meter not to? be over the top of a hot turbo with a 2.2 intake conversion. :)
By: chrispix. on 09 Apr 12, 22:40:13
Mate, this install is on a standard Astra SRi Turbo. The ECU makes the z20leh turbo operate at the same PSI as the standard z20let unit. So this is basically? an upgrade for reliability. Even after having no battery connected for a week, the ECU keeps the turbo under 12psi. From my research, the oil pressure from a z20let engine to the turbo is higher than from a z20leh engine. It's been running fine for the last 2 years with this turbo and oil restrictor.
By: urbex2007. on 09 Apr 12, 17:13:15
Why didn't you put the air filter housing from? the 2.2 on it? The outlet comes out the front, so no need for that pipe over the engine to warm the air. Courtenay sell the pipes, but get the housing from a scrap car. You would need the ECU from the turbo or at high RPM not enough fuel will go in. That will destroy your pistons. That oil restricter was a recall on the VXR engine & turbo, not yours, so you're starving it of oil. Yours=less pressure than the VXR produces. Get it off!!!

Good tips mate :) It would be great for more people to post tips like this.? Cheers.
By: chrispix. on 30 Mar 12, 01:02:01
Not necessary really, I? didn't adjust it. At first there's a little bit of over boosting but the computer will automatically adjust to z20let spec. Even when the ECU is reset, it will remember as well :)
By: mas30519. on 26 Mar 12, 11:03:05
Also if fitting to a? z20let you will probably need to adjust the actuator!
By: mas30519. on 26 Mar 12, 11:02:14
Great videos, the following is from my experience of doing the same: 1 - no need to remove the precat, just undo the clamp between it and the turbo 2 - no need to remove the four studs on the left, didn't make fitting? or removal any more difficult 3 - if the old studs don't want to come out then be careful as they have a tendency to snap and will leave you wishing you hadn't started! (fortunately I avoided this though)

I don't own a turbo car but this was really interesting? to watch, learnt a bit too - thanks :D

reverse? thread *nut* i meant.
By: noxious89123. on 30 Nov 11, 17:22:00
@drummerboi60 You can't put a reverse thread not onto a normal thread >_< You can use 2 nuts like that, tightened against each other to let you undo the studs. Saves you having to buy/borrow/use a stud? extractor.
By: noxious89123. on 30 Nov 11, 17:18:35
The ZLET motor is a turbocharged engine as stock, so what do you mean "it wasn't turbocharged before"? O_o?

By: chrispix. on 20 Nov 11, 10:39:45
Heya, The assembly paste I have is official GM stuff but marked as not to be sold to customers or something silly like that. It's just an anti seize paste to make it easy to get the nuts off again.? Try looking around in an automotive store for some.
By: patrikbrunt. on 29 Oct 11, 17:39:48
Hi Chris, very useful video thanks for posting. Just a quick question, when you fit the new studs you use an assembly paste; is this a vital step? When I bought studs and nuts from Vauxhall I asked if they kept assembly paste and they didn't? even know what it was! Is there an alternative?
By: Weihrauch88. on 30 Sep 11, 17:47:55
Big thanks matey. Just in? the process of fitting mine now, though its got to come off, as I somehow forgot to put the sodding copper washers on the cooling lines! Do you happen to have the torque settings for these? my dealer is as much use as Stevie Wonders eyesight...
By: chrispix. on 27 Sep 11, 00:21:06
Hey Mate, you only need to crank the engine a few times and each time I wouldn't do it longer than 5 to 10 seconds. Let it rest? just as long between each time. Not everyone agrees with having to prime the turbo because once the engine starts, it should flow through to the turbo straight away. But best to be safe and prime it anyway. You might make a mess if you don't drain the coolant. If you don't want to waste it, collect it in a bottle and put the same stuff back in later :)
By: Weihrauch88. on 27 Sep 11, 00:09:27
Chris mate, just a quick one, roughly how long did you crank the engine for? for priming the? turbo? and is it necessary to drain all the coolant off?
