Video response to TyYann's reverse the sweatshirt math puzzle. It was quite a fun little puzzle puzzle to play around with.
Puzzle: With both arms bound by a rope and your sweatshirt inside out, how can you get your sweatshirt on the correct way?
Solution: With great difficulty.
Response to Ericsurf6's
Solution to "The arm trick"
Goal: To turn your wrist from upside down to face up by moving your arm and not directly rotating your wrist.

By: nhojmabon. on 15 Oct 09, 08:49:42 I'm not entirely sure is this is what you mean, but if I were to repeat the same actions with my elbow rested on a table it would work fine :) By the way, there is a nice magic trick where you can do a complete rotation? of your hand while it is planted on the table. This is a fun little trick. The aim is to begin with 5 coins in the centre of your hand, using the one hand you must position one coin at the tip of each finger and thumb. It's fun to see how fast you can get at it.

The online pi world ranking list had a section for pi and juggling, I noticed the records weren't all that high so I decided to have a go at it. I achieved 321 places in this video. It was actually quite hard to juggle while reciting the numbers.

Remembering ... By: nhojmabon. on 13 Mar 10, 03:22:49 2:
Remembering the patterns and combinations is a lot easier than remembering strings of digits, our brains simply didn't evolve to remember strings of numbers, but did evolve to? remember patterns and geometries which is something I've used to my advantage. If you read a little about mnemonics you might come across pegs, links and chains, these techniques are pretty close to what I use in many memorizing tricks.

By: nhojmabon. on 13 Mar 10, 02:57:53 Thanks Amadeus2k8, I've learnt to memorise numbers by looking for little patterns and interesting combinations of digits, such as troughs and hills -12345432, groups of even numbers 246482, odd numbers - 15391, mirror images 1256521, doubles and trples and many? other interesting combinations.

Our brains are much ... By: nhojmabon. on 10 May 09, 00:22:44 Our brains are much better adapted? to thinking in terms of patterns and geometries, so learn to use your brain like it's meant to be used, learn to think in terms of "a high spot is here", "theres a bunch of 5's stuck together there" "this spot has a hill and a hole right next to each other", "this region goes up, down and up, skipping the odd numbers", "this part is symmetrical", "here's those lovely doubles and triples". Memorisation skills take a lot of practice to develop, good luck.
I suppose we did ... By: nhojmabon. on 10 May 09, 00:20:03 I suppose we did not evolve to remember large strings of numbers, so don't try to learn by repetition, repetition can get you into the hundreds but it is very hard and probably won't get you into the thousands, repetition is a slower process of? memorisation.

By: nhojmabon. on 10 May 09, 00:18:12 haha ok, I pretty much learnt by writing random numbers out on a piece of paper and then I would practice spotting patterns, such as looking for odds/evens (35715 24268), hills/troughs (1345678985431), repeats (22222), incremements (56789) and many other patterns. Instead of remembering the numbers I would remember the patterns, this not only meant there are less units of information to remember, but? it made the numbers much more interesting and fun.
