Thanks for the info.i have skis that i? found on the side of someones trash back in 2006.I was going to use them when I went hunting in the winter when the snow was deep. But now i have a better use for them.I always wanted to make my own self takedown bow,and was thinking of whats the best material to use.And you solved that problem for me.Thanks again, and when I'm going to build my bow I will be recording the process from my iphone video and I'll put it on youtube. Thanks again.

if you dont have skis is? their a good flexable wood you can use?
By: noxagol. on 10 May 12, 12:02:51
You could, but I would use regular wood glue. Wood glue is stronger than? the wood it will bond to.

Don't worry about the speaking naturally part. A? tutorial is about information and not an academy award. You do a fine job and make an excellent bow.

Also I just thought of another question. Does it matter if it's a mans ski or a woman's? I know about 10 years ago they started making womens skis lighter and softer and they flex a whole lot more. Was wondering how much we should worry about that? I was pretty sure it? would make a difference just wasn't sure how much. Thanks again.

Great thanks... That's what I thought. Yeah I was gonna put the fiberglass on the outside of the bow, on the part closest to the target. Figured it would probably even give it? extra poundage. Thanks again.

well no doubt it does to some extent but I doubt much though, if you don't remove the plastic than you will not be able to get to the screws that hold on the metal rim on the out side, if your skis have them, and yeah fibre glass with make them stronger? if that's what you want however, I would probably put it on the other side of the limbs because im pretty sure fibre glass works better in tension rather than compression

Hey, love the video! Gonna give? it a try. Just a couple questions, removing the plastic like you did, does that weaken the limb and would it be a smart idea to put a fiberglass backing on the limbs to to make them stronger? Thanks again...

I made my bow? with free but modern pair of cross country skis and I am blow away! I tried other bow making projects but this one was 3 hours and I was shooting. I was hitting targets from 40 yards and going through plywood. Total kick ass bow! This is the best thing I've got from youtube! Thanks!

dats ok :) public speaking's just one of those things that looks easier than it is :P the only problem for me is that i live in Australia,? so its almost impossible to find ski's :) and we don't have any good woods for bows
