I haven't tried it since I updated to Snow Leopard a couple of weeks ago, but I can't see why? you'd need the patch create button as you can just drag from the patch library itself. Quartz is conceptually quite difficult to grasp at first when you don't understand things like "what is a generator?" or "what is the "clear" patch actually doing?" and so forth. Quartz Composer is a visual programming language for Mac OS X, and basically if you have the skills you can make anything you like, Video filters visualisations, screen savers, utilities or even games.
