Wilt only did what his coaches asked him. He averaged many points because Frank McGuire told the team they needed him to do that to win games (got them all the way to seven games in the ECF with that strategy and lost by two points). He was at odds with the Laker system because West and Baylor were used to being successful without a dominant center. "Only" one championship? You do realize that was a milestone season of sorts, right? And Jerry West would not? have won his only championship.

they didnt record blocks back then but spectators have told stories about it and wilt was obsessed with stats, he didnt care about winning and in 72 season? when wilt had jerry west and elgin baylor, they didnt even like to play with him and they only won one championship when wilt realized that he wasnt a team by himself

Um, you got it all backwards. Russell averaged 16 points and 25 rebounds in the playoffs. And I don't know where you got that block figure from? considering they didn't record blocks back then. And of course Russell can relax on the offensive end when sharpshooters Sam Jones and John Havlicek can average just as many points and more while tripling Wilt on defense.

bill russell knew how to win with 25 points 16 rebounds and 10 blocks? and wilt knew how to lose with 50 points and 30 rebounds...simple
By: jaranarm. on 11 May 12, 19:15:58
What do you mean by that anyway? Because Russell won? 11 championships? Rings are a team effort, not an individual one.

how did you think did wilt block kareem's skyhook which is one of the hardest shots to block??
By: rkaighndrummer. on 10 Apr 12, 02:12:53
wilt didnt come anywhere close to? russell....at all

i know what endurance and pace is, i run distance and its about how fast you can run for a long time, so speed is there, thats why people? can run 3 40 miles but anyways, players in the nba sprint then jog over and over again, i believe the running is just the same
By: garioldwin. on 02 Apr 12, 16:08:36
Pace is not about how fast you are , its about endurance . Players in the he 60's were definately more endurant and could? run more . Nobody mentioned players speed .

meh I only saw what you said about wilt? having a 48 inch vertical and commented about that so i don't know what else you've been going on about sorry
By: pheeel17. on 01 Apr 12, 21:14:40
Yes, that's true, but completely unrelated to? anything I've been saying
By: futureTFBdunker. on 01 Apr 12, 20:41:52
well ithi its very possible he COULD get his finger tips to the top of the backboard if you watch this video carefully and its not entirely impossible either i saw a guy named james white almost do it and he's only like 6'6 or? something i think
By: rkaighndrummer. on 01 Apr 12, 18:14:56
what are you? talking about?? the running is exactly the same
By: pheeel17. on 01 Apr 12, 14:52:22
I said IF Wilt had a 48 inch? vertical like this video poster claims, that would mean his elbow could touch the top of the backboard. I realize that is a bit exagerrated but my point was that there's no way Wilt had a 48 inch vertical. I don't know Wilt's reach, but if Dwight Howard's is 9'2" then I'll assume Wilt's is 9'6". A 48 inch leap would put his fingertips like a foot above the top of the backboard.
By: garioldwin. on 01 Apr 12, 12:44:36
Pace is not about? speed , its about running .
By: futureTFBdunker. on 01 Apr 12, 07:34:10
elbow on the top of? the backboard? i think you are over exaggerating that
By: rkaighndrummer. on 31 Mar 12, 03:39:43
thats why? the players are faster then ever before
By: pheeel17. on 29 Mar 12, 22:40:07
You are a fool if you think any NBA player has a 48 inch vertical. That kind of leap would put the top of his head one foot above the rim. Show me a photo or footage of that, and I'll believe he had a 48 inch vert. Dwight Howard has about a 38-40 inch vertical, and that puts his fingertips just a couple inches short of top of backboard. If Wilt, who has a longer reach was jumping 48 inches, he'd have his elbow at top of the? backboard. Think about what you're saying man
By: aDezenT. on 28 Mar 12, 10:43:41
Its always? "its said that he could...". Ive heard that Muggsy could jump and land on top of the backboard. It must be true then...
By: aDezenT. on 26 Mar 12, 05:04:12
Its always the old players that is said to have extremely high vert like Earl the goat and Wilt. You know why? Because there was? never clear fact! He didnt have an 48-50 inch vert, no f way.
By: garioldwin. on 25 Mar 12, 21:26:02
Why would it be ridiculous ? Becouse there was no nba before Jordan ? Wilt Chamberlain is the most athletic player ever to play in the nba . If anyone could have it it would? be him .
By: aDezenT. on 25 Mar 12, 12:19:39
HAHA Wilt didnt have a vertical of 48-50, thats? ridiculous....
By: garioldwin. on 10 Mar 12, 16:47:08
