Audi A8... sound from engine.

Video duration: 81 seconds
I just got this car yesterday. It seems to have some noise on a cold start that isn't from the secondary air pump. It goes away after the engine has warmed up a bit (1:10). If you have any suggestions, please comment. Thanks!

Easy way to isolate the noise is run it with the drive belt removed. That will separate the timing belt driven accessories vs everything else on the front of the engine. The electric fans sound just like a squealing belt when they start to go. Cycling the A/C on/off will help narrow that down. The electric fan is? always ON with the A/C on regardless of temp.

It's actually the fan on the? right. I tested turning the economy mode on and off which turns the fan on, and once turned on it's making that noise. It's about a $60 replacement and will be fixed easily. Thanks for you concern.

Hmmm... the A/C fan? You sure it's not your radiator fan? The fan on the left is attached to the motor... It could be the radiator fan clutch that's going bad, no? Any how, hope you get it fixed.? It's a great car, don't let the engine overheat and siege up on you.

Did you ever figure out what is exactly? wrong... or making that horrid noise? Could it be the tensioner pulley?
